Jan Teunissen is a Dutch artist who grew up in Zeelst, in the south of the Netherlands. He now lives and works in Best. Originally Jan had a technical education and graduated as a business engineer. Until 2002, he pursued art alongside his business career. Jan Teunissen is a self-taught artist and his work is characterized by a high level of realism and often with a somewhat mystical atmosphere. His loves still lifes with images so lifelike that they often evoke comments such as: “So real you would like to take a bite.” Studying many pieces of art from the old masters and experimenting with materials and subjects, Jan acquired the skills to create excellent realistic paintings.
Jan has exhibited and sold his works widely in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Hong Kong, India, Italy, New Zealand, Oman, Taiwan and Qatar.
